Sheltered Employment Centres: Sustainability and Social Value

Sheltered employment centres are social enterprises where at least 70% of their workers have disabilities. They a way helping people with disabilities to work in good working conditions and allowing disadvantaged live full life. However, some criticise these businesses for being ghettos public subsidies used inefficiently. Our paper aims test if this criticism is valid by analysing whether companies provide economic value society return funding also economically sustainable over time. Using sample 997 Spanish sheltered centres, descriptive analysis the main variables has been carried out. Additionally, results PART algorithm show relationship between sustainability. findings corroborate that firms and, same time, socially sustainable. These highlight great such perform country’s economy.
